Somehow the days in college seem like they will never end but the weeks seem to go by like the speed of light. One second, we’re cramming for an exam we have in an hour and the next it’s Saturday night and we’re acting like that test never even happened. Each day is completely new with different worries, thoughts, and concerns. This is the beauty of college because no matter how hard your day is, or how much you embarrassed yourself the night before, the next day is a brand-new day and your problems seem to dissipate along with all of yesterday's woes.

It goes without saying that it can be hard to find your truest self. What does that even mean?! I find that it really hits you during our college years. For some, it’s our first exposure to diversity, differing opinions, and political views and finding a way to fit into it all. So many young people are still searching and exploring who they want to be and without the foundation to navigate it all, our days can feel like a long, long rollercoaster ride.

This one’s for you, parents! To this day the only person that really ever sends me packages is my mom. When I was a freshman living in the dorms getting my first care package was one of my favorite days. It came at the perfect time when it had been long enough, so I missed my mom but early enough into my first semester that everything was still so new. Unpacking the box from my mom immediately gave me peace and comfort. It felt like a little sliver of my home was being delivered to me. My mom would always go for the basics, fun little knick knacks, makeup, junk food, and essentials I had been telling her I needed to replenish. Honestly, anything she sent was perfect simply because it was coming from her.

There are so, so many perks of college. Living alone, meeting new and exciting people, studying subjects you find interesting, and finally escaping those lovely, yet occasionally irritating people you call “family.” However, what comes with freedom is responsibility, and trust me, it’s sometimes not all that it’s worked up to be! Freedom means a lot of great things, but it also means taking care of yourself day in and day out, which is no easy task. Let’s rewind a bit, take it back to when we were young (we still are young, I know but stay with me).

What is the one thing that artists Peach Tree Rascals, Tai Verdes, Dominic Fike, Bryce Vine, and Aries all have in common? Well, they’re all indie pop artists outputting the kinds of hits that make you want to drive with the windows down, chill at a party, and crank out that essay you’ve put off for so long that it’s a week overdue. That, and they’re the music version of AROOMATHERAPY’S ‘UP’ BEATS Essential Oil Blend. Confused? I’ll explain.

If one good thing has come from the internet, it is the idea that we can subscribe to a lifestyle that has no practicality and no resemblance to our real lives. Whether you’re a gamer who casts from the middle of rural Iowa, or a forest fairy living in the big city, you can escape to your dream world through a screen. I would also recommend looking into a semester abroad. A semester abroad, however, may not be feasible for arguably the most popular “core” or lifestyle aesthetic that came out of 2020: Cottagecore.

Pronoia, the opposite of paranoia, is the belief that the universe is conspiring in your favor rather than against you. As students in a world of debt, climate change, and all that other shit you may think you’ll never reach a place where the positives outweigh the negatives. But it’s worth a shot, and it’s the little things that will get you there.

According to a survey conducted with 2,000 Americans, People Magazine reported that 65% of all participants said that they would have “no motivation” to work out without being able to play music. This stat rings true for a lot of people, including myself. In a workout, music provides us some extra motivation; making us push that much harder when one of our favorite songs comes on. Sound tracking your warm-ups and cool downs can also heighten your experience at the gym. Positive messages and songs you love can keep that endorphin-high going long after the actual workout. That’s why when creating the playlist to pair with the scents of AROOMATHERAPY’S Gym Spray, I wanted to take a chronological approach to the order of the songs and workout.
